How it works

From bank transfer to your wallet, one order at a time

EuroToBTC is a manual, human-reviewed service — not an automated exchange. Here's exactly what happens at each step, and what to expect along the way.

Choose the amount

On the buy page, enter how much EUR you want to spend. You'll see a live BTC/EUR rate and an estimated amount of BTC — this is a preview, not a locked-in price. The exact amount of BTC you receive is calculated when your order is actually processed, since the market rate moves continuously.

Enter your BTC wallet

You'll need a Bitcoin address that belongs to you — not an account username. If you don't have a wallet yet, any reputable self-custody wallet works; for larger amounts, a hardware wallet is worth considering. We validate the address format automatically, but please double-check it yourself: Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed once sent.

Send your EUR payment

After you confirm your order, you'll get the payment details (IBAN or Revolut) and a unique payment reference. Send the exact amount by SEPA transfer or Revolut, from an account held in your own name, and include the reference exactly as shown — this is how your payment gets matched to your order.

Payment is reviewed

This is the step that's different from an automated exchange: a person checks that the amount, reference, and source account line up with your order before anything is sent. Human review helps us catch mismatched payments and address errors before BTC moves, rather than releasing it automatically the moment a transfer clears.

BTC is sent to your wallet

Once your payment is confirmed, BTC is sent directly to the address you provided, at the live rate calculated at that time, minus the service fee shown on the Fees page. You keep full control of the coins from the moment they arrive — there's no account or balance held on our side.

How long does it actually take?

Orders are typically reviewed within the same business day, though this can vary depending on order volume and when your bank transfer actually arrives — SEPA transfers are usually fast, but can occasionally take longer, particularly over a weekend or bank holiday. We don't commit to a fixed turnaround time, because we'd rather set an honest expectation than an SLA we can't guarantee. If more than a day or two passes with no update, see the FAQ for what to check before contacting us.

Using the payment reference

The reference generated for your order is the main way we match an incoming bank transfer to the right order without unnecessary back-and-forth. It's specific to that order — using an old reference for a new payment, or leaving it out entirely, means a person has to manually trace your transfer, which takes longer.

If your transfer amount doesn't match

Sending a different amount than your order — even a small difference — means the payment can't be automatically reconciled and needs a manual look. If this happens, contact us with your reference and we'll sort it out; we won't just keep the difference or ignore a mismatched payment.

If you make a mistake

Wrong BTC address, wrong payment amount, or paying from an account that isn't yours are the most common issues, and each one adds delay rather than being fatal on its own. If something doesn't look right on your end after submitting an order, contact us as soon as possible with your reference number — the sooner we know, the easier it is to sort out before BTC has been sent.
